Industrial Safety and Occupational Safety in Kazakhstan

Transition to the market economic principles in Kazakhstan, emergence of new forms and kinds of property, physical and moral ageing of equipment, sharp worsening of material and financial situation of industrial enterprises resulted in due time in growth of the number of large-scale accidents with social and economic consequences. Production has become a permanent source of serious source of man-triggered danger and accidents accompanied with Emergency Situations.

High level of industrial injuries at enterprises of the country often results from unsatisfactory organization of work on Occupational Safety, violation of labor discipline, insufficient training in safe methods of work, violation of the accidents prevention requirements, and irresponsible attitude of many employers to creation of safe work conditions for employees.

Adopted in 2002 Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Industrial Safety on Dangerous Industrial Objects" provides, inter alia, declaring of dangerous industrial objects, training and testing of knowledge of safety rules of top managers and specialists of ОPО.

For the last years, foreign investments have become widely attracted, the volume and the nomenclature of imported to the Republic technological and ancillary equipment of increased danger have increased. It demands continuous control of the State of certification of such equipment for its conformity with requirements of state standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

These and other circumstances set the problem of Industrial Safety as one of the priority tasks of the state management in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
